Song of the Day – I’m A Good Girl from Burlesque by Christina Aguilera

Is it me or can you picture me as Christina in this video.  Sometimes a person is just misunderstood.  I may be a little scandalous, flirty and dress a bit out of the box, but it doesn’t mean I’m not a good girl.  I’m southern at heart and believe dinner comes first.  I may not be perfect, but I am good where necessary.  I’m not out there with random men all over the place or dating people through Twitter hundreds of miles away like some may think.  Divorce still defines me after all.  I am not crazy in the least and always am a good boy.

Really don’t have much else to add as of right now, but do just love the song and picture myself dancing up a staircase belting this out with a pearl necklace on and some stylish white shoes.

Dear Men… 6/12/2012

Two days ago I posted a blog titled “Dear Men…”  In this blog I posted a music video outside of my normal Song of the Day postings.  It had a specific message for men.   I received a few comments back that people enjoyed my reminder to men that boys and girls like to be treated a certain way and refreshing their memory with music.

With the positive feedback I received I decided to start a second category of music focused postings directed toward men.  Not necessary to men in my life though.  No, not at all.  So many of my girlfriends are having boy issues and so many of my guy friends are as well.  From breakups to one way relationships, I feel the best way to speak to my friends about their problems (and yes, sometimes to my own problems) I should turn to music.  I’ve been turning to it for my daily issues and feelings, why not in this instance to?  Songs can give great suggestions to my friends and in particular to the men in their lives.

For instance, I have a girlfriend who had to kick her boyfriend out of her apartment for being a complete douche (to summarize vaguely).  She then moved to a new apartment while he was on vacation because he kept showing up at her door.  The one thing he didn’t understand was what she actually wanted.  He just kept showing up pulling the oh baby, oh baby I’m sorry for being a douche, but not once did he bring her flowers.  Not once did he admit his real faults.

It seems to be a constant theme with men  (I realize I am a man myself and am clueless to a large extent, but that’s besides the point).  Men seem to let their menometers down south of their equator dictate their actions (come on guys, you know we all do that from time to time).  For some reason feelings, emotions and what a girl/boy wants has been forgotten about.  Personality seems to matter less than looks today, I must admit I am guilt of falling to that line of thought at times.  I definitely over obsess about my appearance before walking out of my apartment and I am not even looking for anything.  It’s time guys take a step back and remember what a girl wants:

Dear men…

Dear men… all the boys would like you to listen to this song before you ask them out and waste their time and yours.  I don’t have much else to say to you guys because the song is pretty damn explanatory.  But seriously, just love this song and it goes with my earlier post honoring Christina today for my song of the day (Fighter).

Song of the Day – Fighter by Christina Aguilera

Yesterday I focused all my musical energy into obsessing over Britney Spears.  While on a run with a friend we started talking about Britney and made our way to discussing her song Stronger.  It hit us that all Diva’s seem to have a song titled Stronger or with the main theme focusing on being stronger.

I thought about posting Britney’s Stronger today, but I realized that I used Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger as a song of the day in May.  I wanted to mix things up a bit and that is when I realized that one singer I haven’t posted or discussed is Christina.

This song takes me back to high school.  My girlfriends and I would put the top down on my yellow Mustang convertible, pop in this CD and blast Fighter so loud I know that we annoyed every house we drove past.  None-the-less we did it almost everyday because it gave us a sense of strength.  There is a reason that all diva’s seem to have a song with this theme.  People need the encouragement, often through music, to be a fighter.  To be stronger.  To keep on keeping on.

Christina definitely delivered the needed encouragement with this song.  I know I will listen to it at least 5 times on today’s run because it is just that good.
