Song of the Day – Why Are You Still Here by Katie Thompson
I don’t have much I feel I should write about this song but I’ll give you a little backgrounder on how I was introduced to it.
I met my friends on the corner of Broadway and 97th Street this morning and the first thing one of my friends said was, “I just heard a song that you will love.” We didn’t listen to it though, instead we rode the 2 train out to queens so that we could hop the bus out to Jacob Reiss Beach.
We completely forgot about the song as we laid out sunning our pasty bodies and frolicked in the water, but then on the train ride home my friend remembered to pull out his iPhone and play the song for me. Drenched with sun, exhausted and probably a bit dehydrated I began to listen to the song. The song Why Are You Still Here is pretty good. Perfectly written, great musicality and almost comical at points. It’s in fitting with a lot of the music I tend to belt out in the shower (although lately Adele has been queen of my shower singing), I can see Katie Thompson becoming a new favorite. I love her deep and full voice and her musical style.
